Yeaching Wu
What is your name and what is your role at the lab?
I’m Yeaching Wu, the germination/viability supervisor at the OSU Seed Laboratory.
What project are you currently working on?
The main function of the OSU Seed Laboratory is to support seed producers by the services of seed testing (a year-round process). Besides routine seed testing, finding solutions for customers keeps me engaged. I treasure the opportunity to work with our student employees. Some of my students have been involved throughout their entire college careers. What a joy watching them develop.

How does your work at the lab impact the OSU community? How does your work impact the broader world?
The world is tightly connected, and seeds are the basis for humanity. We are proud to be part of OSU and this tight-knit family. Everyone in the lab is doing their part to provide quality services to communities around us. Whether in the form of testing, consultation, research or education, we take pride in our outreach and impact.
What is something you are looking forward to? (Lab, research, or OSU related)
Here at the lab, we call ourselves “seed nerds”. There is so much to discover about seeds. Just think for a second: most things buried in soil decay. But not seeds. Out of seeds come life, a tree, a fruit, your morning coffee! That’s nothing short of a miracle. I’m excited to see the next generation of “seed nerds” change the world.
